Surgery

At Drake Vets we have full surgical facilities and equipment enabling us to undertake various operations from simple castrations all the way to more complex gut surgery as well as orthopaedic (bone) and complex eye surgery.

We have 2 separate theatres which have underfloor heating as well as air conditioning. This is extremely important as animals can get too cold very quickly and the ability to control the ambient temperature as well as the use of contact heat mats will make the anaesthetic safer for the patient.

All clean surgical procedures are performed in the theatres as this is the most sterile area and staff wear surgical gowns with surgical hats, clogs and gloves to minimise infection risk.
