Ophthalmology

Ophthalmology consultations

We have up to date surgical facilities and equipment, including a high magnification operating loupe for detailed surgical work. We also have all the required equipment for medical investigations, including a digital tonopen which enables us to monitor animals for debilitating conditions (for example,  glaucoma), and a slit lamp which is a high magnification examination tool.

We are able to deal with more complicated medical and surgical problems of canine and feline eyes (and also exotics).  We are happy to see second opinions from other practices, or to discuss eye cases with fellow veterinary surgeons.

All of our veterinary surgeons deal routinely with eye cases although the more complicated problems will be referred to Chris Jones (at Drake Vets) for further evaluation.  Chris can be seen at the Leg O Mutton surgery most days.  Chris has a further GP certificate qualification in ophthalmology,  most cases can be dealt with in house but we of course can and will still refer outside the practice for more complicated cases for example cataract surgery.
